Does Your Business Name Matter to God?

Hello Beauties,

My name is Ronita Marsh, and I am the Owner and CEO of Everything Beautiful Events. Today,

I want to talk about something that often gets overlooked in business—but matters deeply to God:

Does your business name matter to Him?

When God first laid it on my heart to start a business, I began the journey with excitement, creativity, and vision—but also, if I’m being honest, with a bit of self-direction. My very first business name was Bright Occasion. My maiden name is Bright, and I thought it sounded catchy and friendly. Later, I changed the name to Elegant Events, because I wanted the name to clearly communicate the type of events I desired to design—refined, elevated, and timeless.

Yet, even after the changes, something still didn’t feel right.

That’s when I realized the truth: I was trying to do this without fully inviting God into the process.

So, I paused. I stepped back. And I began to intentionally ask the Holy Spirit to lead me—not just in strategy, but in identity. I asked God to give me a name that would honor Him and align with His will.

One day, while at home reading a book by Marilyn Hickey, focused on the book of Ecclesiastes, I came across a familiar scripture:

“God has made everything beautiful in His time…”

— Ecclesiastes 3:11

As I read that verse, something powerful happened. The words “Everything Beautiful” stood out to me—almost as if they were lifted off the page, floating above the rest of the scripture. In that moment, I literally shouted, “That’s it!” God had given me the name of my business.

Why Your Business Name Matters

As Christian entrepreneurs, our businesses are not separate from our faith—they are an extension of it. If we say we run God-led businesses, then every part of what we build should honor Him, including the name.

We cannot declare our business as God-led while carrying a name that contradicts His character, values, or purpose.

Our business names should:

  • Reflect God’s values

  • Align with His will

  • Carry integrity

  • Represent the purpose God has called us to

  • Reflect our identity in Christ

Our businesses ultimately belong to God. We are simply stewards, entrusted to manage them well and in a way that brings Him glory.

Now, let me be clear—your business name does not have to sound “churchy” or overly spiritual. But it should represent what your business stands for through Christ Jesus. It should resonate with your ideal clients, align with your purpose, and reflect what matters to God.

A Final Encouragement

If you are in the process of naming—or renaming—your business, invite God into it. Ask Him questions. Listen closely. He cares about the details more than we often realize. I pray this message encourages and helps you on your entrepreneurial journey.

And remember, beauties—find the beauty in everyday life. You are worthy of a beautiful life.

Until next time,

Ronita
